PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of an automatic patrolling supervision and a method for controlling a video camera for use in monitoring enabling to automatically, continuously supervise a wide scope with one camera. SOLUTION: In the method of the automatic supervision for the wide scope by one video camera 2 having a universal head 1, each position in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction of the universal head 1 in response to a plurality of positions arranged along a monitoring area, and a zoom position of a lens 14 and focal position are memorized beforehand, and the video camera monitors with a reciprocating motion at a predetermined speed along a coupling straight line connecting to a plurality monitoring positions.
