PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which has a wide visual field angle even if the positioning precision when substrates are stuck to each other is low and which can be used even as a liquid crystal display section of a PALC( Plasma Address system Liquid Crystal Display Device). SOLUTION: A waffle structure section 16 consisting of inversely tapered protrusion parts regulating the alignment direction of a liquid crystal is formed on a perpendicular alignment layer. The waffle structure section 16 is constituted of the protrusion parts forming a closed polygon. Protrusion parts 17 having a cross-shaped normal taper are formed within the polygons of the waffle structure section 16. In this case, a plurality of protrusion parts on the perpendicular alignment layer are constituted of continuous and periodical combination of the protrusion shape parts 17 having the normal tapers and the waffle structure sections 16 of the protrusion parts having the inverse tapers. |
