PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting composition having a stability of preservation capable of making it one-part in spite of containing an organic solvent of very little amount, a sufficient curing and a good dripping upon coating and a method for forming a coating film which makes it possible to reduce a content of an organic solvent in a coating material upon coating. SOLUTION: As to a thermosetting coating component containing (a) a component having a number-average molecular weight of 300-3,000 and active methylene groups and/or active methine groups of more than two per one molecule, (b) a component having a number-average molecular weight of 200-3000 and methacrylate groups and/or acrylate groups of more than two per 1 molecule, (c) a component having onium salt and (d) a component having an epoxy group and/or carbonate group of five-membered ring, a thermosetting coating component is characterized by which the component (d) is a nonaqueous dispersion liquid having resin particles insoluble in an organic solvent having the epoxy group and/or carbonate group of five membered ring.
