A hand or machine tool for forming flanged hole 2 in a wall 1 comprises a drill 4 for forming the hole and at least two tools 5 to be extended from the drill under the edge of the hole for spinning the flange 3 upon withdrawal of the rotating drill. Rolling or (as shown) rubbing tools 5 are used, the rearward ends of which engage cam grooves for extending the tools from holes in the drill. A reduction gear, Fig. 3, for a manually operated drill, has arms 16 for thrusting against a pipe during the spinning operation. The arms are suspended from a divided nut 15 which is closed on to a threaded section of a shaft 12 carrying the drill upon turning the arms into the supporting position. Rotation of the shaft, through gearing and an intermediate shaft, thus thrusts the arms downwards. Endwise movement of the shaft 12 establishes a direct drive between internal teeth on the shaft and external teeth on an input shaft 13. Upon opening the nut 15, it is returned by springs 17. |
