A testing device (10) for a switching cabinet or similar (11) has a housing (21) with a connection field (22) with connection points (23) over which its internal wires are connected to connection wires in the switching cabinet. The various cables can be connected and a display device (31) as the applied voltage is also connected via the connection terminals. The test device has a voltage source (38.1, 38.4) for application of test voltages.
