PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance recording sensitivity and the number of rewriting in a rewritable phase change type optical recording medium aimed at high density recording and to provide an optical recording medium whose film deposition control is made easy and which is easily manufactured. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium wherein a substrate 1, a lower dielectric protective layer 2, a phase change type recording layer 3, an upper dielectric protective layer 4 and a reflective radiation layer 6 are arranged in this order is characterized in that the lower dielectric protective layer 2 and the upper dielectric protective layer 4 contain ZrO2 and materials for stabilizing the ZrO2 and the ZrO2 stabilizing materials different from each other are separately contained in the upper dielectric protective layer 4 and the lower dielectric protective layer 2. |
