<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission element with high electron emission efficiency, an electron source composed of many field emission elements and an image display device composed of the electron source which can operate with low driving electric power. SOLUTION: The field emission element is composed of a pair of electrodes arranged opposed on a substrate, an electrically conductive film with a gap arranged between the electrodes and an electron emission portion formed in the vicinity of the gap. A magnetic film is arranged with magnetic field in the direction corresponding to the direction of extension of the gap.</p> |
