PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug preventing exfoliation and dropout of Ir alloy chip fixed on an electrode. SOLUTION: In a spark plug 100 provided with Ir alloy chip 5 on a position where a ground electrode 4 and a centre electrode 3 face, an insertion through hole is provided on the ground electrode 4 and the chip 5 is fitted in the hole and is arc-welded from a ground electrode back surface 21. Moreover, the chip 5 is fixed by performing laser welding from surfaces except the ground electrode front surface 22.
