PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line carrier communication method that can attain power line carrier communication, without injecting an excessively large signal to a distribution line. SOLUTION: A reference injection level and a plurality of temporary injection levels which are higher than the reference injection level are set as injection levels to inject a signal to a distribution line 1 from a transmitter/receiver 9. In the case of communication between a master station 5 and specific carrier slave stations (L1 -Ln), a transmission process is executed, where the transmitter/ receiver 9 injects a signal toward the carrier slave station, being a communication opposite party to the distribution line 1 at a reference injection level that is set lower. When no carrier slave station responds to the signal in the transmission process, a retransmission process, where the signal is injected to the distribution line at the temporary injection level higher than the preceding injection level for retransmission of the signal, is conducted by a limited number of execution times that is the set number of times or smaller.
