The invention relates to a method for production of a crankshaft (10) for an internal combustion engine, comprising a cylindrical part at the front axial end (18) and a cylindrical part at the rear axial end (20) which are coaxial. The method comprises an initial stage wherein the axial ends of the raw crankshaft (10) are machined, at least one intermediary stage wherein the crankshaft (10) under production, or the semi-finished crankshaft (10), is mounted on a tool and a final stage of finishing operations on the semi-finished crankshaft (10), to give the finished crankshaft (10). Said method is characterised by the fact that during the initial stage a temporary end piece (40, 42) is provided at at least one axial end of the raw crankshaft (10) and during the final stage the item forming each temporary end piece (40, 42) is removed. |
