PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an A/D converter of high speed and high precision. SOLUTION: The A/D converter is provided with a differential amplifier array for amplifying each differential voltage between an analog input voltage and each reference voltage, a first sample/hold circuit array for sampling and holding each of the amplified differential voltages, a second sample/hold circuit array in which two second and third sample/hold circuits are connected in parallel with one output of the first sample/hold circuit array and perform sampling alternately, a plurality of comparators for determining positive or negative sign of each of the differential voltages which are held by the first sample/hold circuit array, and an encoder for outputting digital codes corresponding to outputs of the comparators.
