PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video doorphone system that records a video image of a visitor at absence and also records a message of the visitor. SOLUTION: The video doorphone system is provided with a camera salve unit 10 having a call button 15 calling a master unit, a camera 13 that picks up an image of a visitor and a transmitting and receiving section 11 and with a monitor attached master unit 30 having a speaker 45a that sounds a call tone in response to a call from the camera salve unit, an image display section 34 that displays a video image of the visitor, a video memory circuit 43 that records/reproduces the video image, an image display section that displays the video image reproduced from the video memory circuit, a transmitting and receiving section 45 that makes a speech with the camera slave unit, and a recording and reproducing circuit 49 that records/ reproduces a voice from the camera slave unit by taking a prescribed timing with the video recording/reproduction. The monitor attached master unit 30 is provided with a video signal changeover switch 35 that selects the video image of the visitor sent from the camera slave unit or the video image reproduced from the video memory circuit and with a voice signal changeover switch 47 that selects the voice of the visitor sent from the camera slave unit or the voice reproduced from the recording and reproducing circuit in interlocking with the video signal changeover switch.
