PROCESS FOR PRODUCING TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE POLYMER

A process for producing a tetrafluoroethylene polymer which comprises polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene having a content of impurities (e.g., saturated compounds such as CH2F2 and CHF3 and unsaturated compounds such as CF2=CFH, CF2=CH2, CF2=CFCl, and CF2=CHCl) of 100 ppm or lower in the presence of an aqueous medium and a polymerization initiator. By the process, PTFE can be obtained which can be evenly stretched in a high stretch ratio and has excellent suitability for fibrillation and a high breaking strength.
