PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for gasifying and melting a waste capable of largely reducing an amount of a chemical to be added to treat an insolubilization of a fly ash. SOLUTION: The method for gasifying and melting the waste comprises the steps of thermally decomposing the waste to gasify, melting its residue, and exhausting the molten residue. The method further comprises the steps of charging the waste, cokes, a substance containing a sulfate or the substance containing the sulfate and lime in a waste gasifying melting furnace 10, and blowing an oxygen-containing gas in a lower part 12 in the furnace in which these charged materials are deposited to gasify and melt the waste.
