PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost shift changeover device 100 free of malfunction in changing over by improving its operating mechanism. SOLUTION: The shift changeover device includes a detent mechanism part 50 composed of a movable detent part 21 formed at the periphery of a disc part 15a and a stationary detent part 20 having a projection (sphere) 20c at one end and exerting a force to push itself by a coil spring 20b in the direction toward the movable detent part 21 (B in Fig. 1), in which an optimum combination is established between a rotational energy (D in Fig. 1) to accumulate a twist torque in a torsion spring 4 and to rotate the disc part 15a and a rotational energy to conduct the power on-off control to a motor 3 while the power supplied to the motor 3 is made constant and to rotate the disc part 15a (C in Fig. 1), and thereby the changing-over from 2H (two-wheel high-speed range drive) to 4H (four-wheel high-speed range drive), for example of a four-wheel drive car, is conducted smoothly.
