PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the nonuniformity in perforating properties in the vicinity of the fore end part of an image for plate-making, in particular, that is a problem left in the technique mentioned in the prior Patent Application No.2000-106732, on the basis of the effect produced by the technique, and thereby to further improve the perforating properties. SOLUTION: Immediately after a power supply is made, that is, by the power supply from a power supply unit 53 and on the basis of an off-detachment signal from a touch-detachment detecting sensor 25, a CPU 41 judges that a thermal head 2 and a platen roller 1 are separated from each other, and executes a preheating operation of heating a plurality of heating resistors 2A of the thermal head 2, when the specific conditions of execution of the preheating operation are satisfied. Then, it controls a pressure release motor 34 so that the platen roller 1 and the thermal head 2 are brought into contact with each other so as to apply a platen pressure, and controls a thermal head control part 214 comprising a thermal head driving circuit not shown in Fig., through the intermediary of an energization time generation counter part 212, so as to make the thermal head 2 execute a plate-making operation.
