PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply cloning a gene encoding an isoamylase in an organism, a new isoamylase derived from a blue-green algae belonging to the kingdom Prokaryote, a plant into which a heterogeneous isoamylase is transduced, and a new method for producing a starch produced by the plant. SOLUTION: A method for cloning a gene encoding an isoamylase derived from Synechococcus sp. based on a DNA amplified by PCR from a DNA in a genome or library thereof as primers consisting of specific base sequences, an isoamylase having a specific amino acid sequence derived from Synechococcus sp., and a gene encoding the isoamylase, a higher plant obtained by transducing a gene encoding a heterogeneous isoamylase into an isoamylase- deficient higher plant, and a method for producing a starch by the transgenic plant, are provided. |
