PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily, surely and inexpensively make resource recovery from animal solid wastes, such as the internal organs of domestic animals, and fish wastes discharged in a large amount. SOLUTION: In subjecting the solid wastes containing animal protein to biological treatment, saponin-containing materials are added to the crushed materials of the solid wastes to promote the solubilization of the solid wastes. The crushed materials of the solid wastes containing the animal protein are fed together with the saponin-containing materials into digested sludge to cause methane fermentation. Further, the digested sludge is depolymerized by ozone treatment and the saponin-containing materials are added thereto, by which the digested sludge is further decreased.
