PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a plated product which is composed so as to prevent awful deterioration of appearance due to corrosion of a metal plated layer, and so as to pass a corrosion resistance test. SOLUTION: The plated product 11 comprises a basecoat 13, a silver plated layer 14, and a topcoat 15, which are sequentially formed on the surface of a base material 12. The above silver plated layer 14 is macroscopically observed as a metal film, but microscopically forms crystal particle boundaries 17 due to microcrack formation, and has a structure as if laying the surface with micro metal pieces 16. The method for manufacturing the plated product 11 includes forming the basecoat 13 by applying a basecoat agent on the surface of the base material 12, forming the silver plated layer 14 on the surface of the basecoat 13 by utilizing a silver mirror reaction. The method subsequently includes forming microcracks on the silver plated layer 14 by a cooling treatment or a supersonic treatment, and forming the topcoat 15 by applying a topcoat agent on the surface of the silver plated layer 14.
