PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the voltage to drive a liquid crystal in an active matrix type liquid crystal display device which is provided with a switching elements for every pixel. SOLUTION: A pixel electrode 12 and an individual opposite electrode 14 are formed at an interval in each pixel area between a 1st substrate 1 and a 2nd substrate 17, and a switching element 6 is connected to the pixel electrode 12 and a 2nd switching element 7 is connected to the individual opposite electrode 14.
