PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of carrying out proper and quiet driving in either case, a beginning or terminating stage of life of an actuator or the like which moves a recording means. SOLUTION: The recorder is equipped with a carriage 21 performing a prescribed motion about recording and a CR motor 16 giving a driving power to the carriage 21. A driving load of the carriage 21 is decided, and based on the driving load, CR motor 16 is controlled, then the driving power to be given to the carriage 21 is controlled.
