<p>Strip material looped around a package and held under tension is first jointed at a point near the package and then the free end from the storage drum is cut. To prevent splitting of the material lengthwise during cutting, a separate clamping mechanism, which operates automatically, is placed over the run of the strip between the tensioner and the cutter and is operated automatically during the first part of the cutter stroke.</p> |
