PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high performance of an image recording by means of an ink jet recording system by preventing deterioration of an image quality of recorded images. SOLUTION: In the case a transparent film is not formed on the surface layer of a recording material on which an image is recorded by the ink jet system (a step 206 is negative), solvent in ink liquid drops adhered on the recording material is removed from the surface layer of the recording material when the image recording surface of the recording material is in contact with a foreign matter. Likewise, the solvent is removed by setting a hot air temperature (208, 210) in accordance with the soaking speed of ink liquid drops into the recording material, and adding a heat energy by supplying hot air to the recording material. In the case the transparent film is formed on the recording material (a step 206 is affirmative), nearly all of the solvent adhered on the recording material is removed from the recording material at the time the transparent film is formed based on (the maximum value of) the amount of the solvent adhered on the recording material. Likewise, the solvent is removed by setting the hot air temperature (228) in accordance with the ink liquid drop soaking speed into the recording material, supplying the hot air to the recording material, and adding the heat energy.
