PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing specific polymeric functional gel (particularly immobilized biocatalyst gel having large packing potency), obtained from a phenomenon when water-containing gel is frozen in a state immersed in water. SOLUTION: Water-containing gel (particularly water-containing gel of an alginic acid-based polymer containing a biocatalyst such as enzyme or microbial cell) or polymer is subjected to freezing operation in a state immersed in water. Thereby, water content in the water-containing gel is separated to afford gel from which water is separated. Then, the gel is subjected to thawing operation to isolate the gel from which water is separated. Further, as necessary, gel from which water is separated is dried to provide dried gel.
