A system and method for editing live television signals. This system includes: a plurality of input connectors (112, 114, 110) for receiving separate input video signals, and an output connector (122, 124, 180); a mixer (120) for generating at the output connector a real-time output video signal (122) derived from at least one of the input (112) video signals; a single display monitor (150) for simultaneously displaying each of the input video signals and the output video signal; and an imager (140) coupled between the mixer (120) and the display monitor (150) for causing at least three images to be displayed on the display monitor (150) in a split-screen format, the at least three images corresponding to the input (112) video signals and the output (122) video signal. The system is enclosed in a portable suitcase housing.
