PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer which enables a user to easily operate a switch even in the dark. SOLUTION: This pointer having a pointing rod 3 provided with a luminous body 6 at its front end and a gripper 2 fixed with the pointing rod and provided with a housing section 5 for a battery 4 for emitting the light of the luminous body and a switch 8 for connecting the luminous body and the battery is provided with the housing section for the battery and the switch 8 in the positions different with respect to the irradiation direction of the light emitted from the luminous body. The battery is positioned downward by the battery's own weigh when the pointer is placed, by which the switch is arranged always on an upper side.
