The application is to the automatic winding of small d.c. machines and is concerned with mounting the commutator on the armature shaft and with making off the winding ends into the commutator bar slots. The armature (5) is set up on a base together with the commutator (6) whose bar slots are aligned with reference slots (12) in the base (4). The shaft is pressed home by a hydraulic ram. A sprocket mechanism, mechanically interconnected with the base has two toothed wheels (14, 15). The first locates the end winding leads in the correct position (13) in relation to the slot, whilst the second (15), half a tooth pitch away, then presses the wire into the commutator slot. The combined mechanism then moves round one pitch to repeat the process until all the ends are made off. The connections can then be soldered.
|
