<p>A method for producing a SiC fiber-reinforced SiC composite material having high density, which comprises admixing a polyvinyl silane having unit structures (a) and (b) in a (a)/(b) ratio of 1 with fine SiC particles to provide a resin slurry, impregnating a SiC fiber formed product with the resin slurry without diluting the slurry with a solvent, and firing the impregnated product at a temperature of 1000°C or higher. It is preferred that use is made of a resin slurry prepared by incorporating fine SiC particles having a size of 0.1 to 1.0 νm into the polyvinyl silane in an amount of 25 to 70 mass %. The method allows satisfactory permeation of the resin slurry into fine interstices of fibers of the formed product and the formation of a SiC matrix by the firing in a high ceramic yield, which leads to the production of a SiC fiber-reinforced SiC composite material having high density. Further, the repeated impregnation with the polyvinyl silane and firing with no pressuring after the above firing provides a SiC fiber-reinforced SiC composite material having a higher tightness.</p> |
