Distillation of volatile constituent from plant material without use of solvent

Raw plant material is placed in vessel 1 which is heated by lamps 14 and placed under vacuum. Evaporation of water and light fractions increases pressure in vessel 1 and material passes through tube 3 into vessel 2. Pressure is reduced as tube 3 is cooled by chamber 7. Tube 4 is formed with reinforcements 15 as an additional trap for evaporated material. The essential oils produced may be separated and clarified.
