PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deformation element absorbing energy capable of simply manufacturing, optimally conforming to the availability in a column, member or supporting body and ceiling of a vehicle as well as connecting with the vehicle parts and ensuring the specified energy absorption, in particular on a head impingement. SOLUTION: The deformation element 1 is comprised of a plurality of U shaped forming bodies arranged at uniform intervals with each other, the U shaped forming bodies provide a web 3 and reinforcing web 6, 6a arranged facing to the traverse direction between legs S1, S2 of the U shaped forming bodies, the U shaped forming bodies are connected with each other via connecting webs 4, 5, and elongated to form a component unit arranged at least at one plane.
