PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deaerating packaging method wherein a unit is simple, operation is easy, a high-speed stable deaeration is carried out, and a better stretch shrink package can be attained. SOLUTION: In the packaging method wherein a flat film is formed into a cylindrical body, a circumference of an article to be packaged is encapsulated and both ends of the front and the rear of the film are sealed by heat, a position immediately before overlapping both right and left ends of the film is continuously sucked. Preferably, suction is applied by a nozzle opening where a static pressure is 5 to 10 kPa. More preferably, the film is retained by a retainer until just before the both right and left ends of the film are overlapped.
