PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method or writing specified data in a semiconductor device for performing desired circuit operations, by which an applied voltage for destructing the PN junction can be made sufficiently low, and to provide a semiconductor device suitable for the method of write data. SOLUTION: Desired circuit operations can be performed by writing desired data into the semiconductor device 1, which is provided with an anti-fuse element 100 having a PN junction formed inside a semiconductor layer 130 stacked on the surface of a semiconductor substrate 110 via an insulating film 120 or on the surface of the semiconductor substrate 110 by the method for writing data. In this case, the PN junction is made conducting by passing a current in the forward direction via the PN junction.
