Zn electrode for electrical cell primed with water, comprising finely divided Zn powder, pref. amalgamated, alkaline electrolyte, pref. aq. KOH, and a gelling agent. After mixing and allowing to gel, the electrodes are formed around a current collector of Ag or Cu wire or foil, dehydrated to a water content slightly less than KOH.H2O by heating in an inert gas, in vacuo or by lyophilisation. The dehydration is reversible and the cells are primed by the addn. of water. The electrodes are partic. suitable for Zn/air cells. |
