PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a binder resin for a toner by which the binder resin comprising well mixed high and low molecular weight resins can be produced at a low cost with good productivity. SOLUTION: The method for producing a binder resin for a toner has a step for mixing a solvent-containing resin (A) with a resin (B) not substantially containing a solvent and the molecular weight in the peak position of the molecular weight distribution of the resin (A) by gel permeation chromatography(GPC) is larger than that in the peak position of the molecular weight distribution of the resin (B) by GPC.
