PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device for an AC electric car that is suitable for blocking a reverse pressurized voltage from an induction motor mounted on the car on a power failure in aerial wiring and for preventing the reverse pressurization to the wiring. SOLUTION: In the AC electric driven by taking in an AC voltage from a collector 1 and by converting the voltage by a transformer 2 connected to the collecting device and power is supplied to an electrical apparatus 15 provided to the car, a power failure detecting logic circuit 12 and a NOT gate 13 are provided for detecting the power failure in the wiring from an output of a wiring voltage detecting transformer 11 connected to the collector. When the power failure is detected, the excitation of a contactor coil 14a is released to open a contactor 14b and to disconnect the induction motor 10, which operates the electrical apparatus 15, from the transformer.
