The invention relates to drive mechanisms having a variable rotation speed for gearing from a drive element to a driven element, in particular to the drive mechanisms having a variable rotation speed and provided with the drive element whose rotation speed is automatically changed with respect to the rotation speed of the driven element at a load variation, the mechanism having an increased specific power. An existing inertial variator comprises a drive shaft, a sleeve connected thereto and arms provided with runners and connected to the sleeve in such a way that they are rotatable. Said runners interact with a profiled internal surface of a holder. The novelty of the invention lies in that the holder, the arms and the sleeve embodied in the form of disks are spaced on different planes of rotation.
