PURPOSE: Provided is a hygienic absorbent article which can be held in close contact with the wearer's body so as not to go out of position by the motion of the body. CONSTITUTION: The hygienic absorbent article(1) comprises: a main body including a back layer(2) and an absorbent layer(3) having two side edges(1a,1b) extending in a longitudinal direction of the article and laid on the back layer; a three-dimensional portion(10) extending in the longitudinal direction of the article and provided over the absorbent layer, and elastic members(13). The three-dimensional portion is fixed at two fixed ends thereof onto the main body. The fixed ends are located between the two side edges of the absorbent layer. The three-dimensional portion includes two connecting portions(12a,12b) to rise from the fixed ends and a skin-contacting portion(12e) extending between upper ends of the connecting portions to have a pair of free ends(12c,12d), each free end being located closer to corresponding one of the side edges of the absorbent layer than the fixed end. At least an upper face of the skin-contacting portion is made of a liquid-permeable material. The elastic members are provided in the three-dimensional portion to extend in the longitudinal direction of the article for applying a longitudinal elastic contractive force to the three-dimensional portion so that the three-dimensional portion is allowed to rise to have the free ends of the skin-contacting portion spaced above the main body while being anchored at the fixed ends to the main body.
