PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a on-vehicle horizontal hermetic compressor capable of sucking lubricating oil from an oil suction pipe without lowering the level of the lubricating oil below the oil suction pipe, even if the compressor is inclined by the inclination of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An electric device 6 is provided in a hermetic container with a laterally set rotary shaft 7 and a compressor device 8 driven by the electric device is also provided therein. The lubricating oil is stored in the hermetic container 4. An oil pump 66 for sending the lubricating oil to the compression device 8 is provided in the opposite side of the electric device 6 of the compression device 8. Partition walls 72 and 73 partitioning the inside of the hermetic container 4 are respectively provided on the sides of the electric device 6 of the compressor device 8 and the oil pump 66 while allowing the movement of refrigerant gas and the lubricating oil.
