PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect and control mounting of a film adapter. SOLUTION: A camera body 1 is provided with a bar code sensor 64 for detecting the bar codes, stated on film adhesive paper of a 120/220 film, and a panoramic screen frame 22 of the film adapter to be mounted thereon is provided with a protrusion 22a', which is finished on its rear surface to a high reflecting surface by plating, etc., at a position where the bar code sensor 64 is shielded. When the film adapter is mounted on the camera body 1 and a rear cap 2 is closed after the film has been loaded in the camera, the bar code sensor 64 senses the reflection of the protrusion 22a' of the panoramic screen frame 22 and sends a signal which indicates that its initial value is high to a CPU, which automatically sets an initial film feed rate and a frame feed rate and counts and controls the feed rate with a PI integral with a counter roller 72. When the film tunnel quantity by setting of a pressure plate 83 is different from that for a 135 film, a warning is made by flickering of a pressure plate warning display on an external display 42.
