Shielding gas generator - with recycling from fire chamber to burner to improve stability

An apparatus for burning fuel mixtures to produce protective gases comprises a cooled casing contg. a combustion chamber, inside which is a fire-chamber connected to the mouth of the burner. The combustion chamber contains cooled tubes within its lining; these act as connectors between ducts connected to the fire-chamber and burner respectively so that combustion products can be cooled and recycled from the fire-chamber back to the burner. The burner consists of two concentric tubes; the outer tube comprises inlet holes, whose aperture is regulated by a slide valve to vary the quantity of products recycled.
