1417184 Weighing apparatus: pointer actuation CAMBRIAN HOUSEWARES Ltd 5 Oct 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 45857/72 Headings G1J and G1W A weighing apparatus Fig. 2 comprises a pointer p pivoted at a and a control member m which, within the plane of Fig. 2 moves linearly to an extent proportional to the quantity measured, and which moves the pointer angularly via contact with a control surface C<SP>1</SP> on the pointer, the control surface C<SP>1</SP> having a cam profile which produces a linear relationship between the angular movement of the pointer and the linear movement of the control member m. In the weighing apparatus of Figs. 3 and 5, the load is supported by parallel leaf-springs 11a, 11b, and the control member 37, which has a control surface 37a, is mounted on the upper leaf-spring, flexure of the upper leaf-spring under load causing the control surface 37a to move to the right in Fig. 5 by an amount proportional to the load. The pointer comprises an inner plastics part 20 pivoted by integral trunnions 22, and an outer spring-wire part 29 located by grooves at 31, 32, 34. The inner part 20 includes a lever 27 carry a control surface 27a at its end which co-operates with the control surface 37a on the control member 37. The pointer is biased anti-clockwise by a spring 36 to maintain contact between control surfaces 27a, 37a, and an adjustment screw allows the position of lever 27 to be adjusted relative to the pointer pivot axis. |
