PURPOSE: To provide an optical fiber suitable for WDM(wavelength division multiplexing) optical transmission and without the problem of nonlinearity, and an optical transmission line using the same. CONSTITUTION: In the optical fiber which has a dispersion value of 14 ps/nm/km to 20 ps/nm/km in a wavelength of 1,550 nm, the relative index difference Δ1 of a center core to a cladding is 0.25 to 0.50%, the relative index difference Δ2 of a side core to the cladding is 0.05 to 0.30%, the ratio a/b of the outer diameter (a) of the center core to the outer diameter (b) of the side core is 0.3 to 0.7, the dispersion slope in the wavelength of 1,550 nm is 0.05 ps/nm¬2/km to 0.08 ps/nm¬2/km, transmission loss in the wavelength of 1,550 nm is 0.2 dB/km or lower, and the effective core cross section area in the wavelength of 1,550 nm is 90 μm¬2 or larger.
