PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recoil starter device hardly causing settling, breakage, etc., of a spring of a spring mechanism and hardly detaching an inner end hook part of the spring from a winding core part. SOLUTION: The spring mechanism 15 is interposed between a driving part and a driven part, the driven part is driven by an accumulated power, and after the starting, it becomes a free state. This recoil starter device is provided with a spring barrel drum 16 disposed on the driving part side, a starting pulley disposed on the driven part side, a spring 18 interposed therebetween, and a means for rotating the spring barrel box in only one direction. An outside end part 18a and an inside end part 18b are locked to the spring barrel drum and the starting pulley respectively. In a natural released state, the spring is formed with an outer circumferential-side winding part Mo where a prescribed number of turns is mutually and closely fitted to each other, on the outer circumferential side, one turn or more internal circumferential side winding part Mi is formed on the internal circumferential side, and a clearance space S is formed between the outer circumferential winding part and the internal circumferential winding part.
