<p>Plant for the biological purificn. of effluent consisting of a recirculation vessel divided by partitions into a main aerating zone and two channels, the aerating zone being provided with devices which mix the effluent with air and impact a flow energy to it, while the two channels act either as a main aerating channel or as a clarifier, and baffles are provided in the circulation vessel so aligned that in one position they produce a flow connection between the main aerating zone and one of the channels and in the other position they form a flow connection between the aerating zone and the second channel, incorporating the improvement whereby (a) the devices in the main aerating zone for imparting a flow energy to the effluent are reversible for reversing the direction of flow of the effluent in the aerating zone, and (b) the baffles are supported so that they can pivot in one direction only, one being installed at the end of one channel and the other at the end of the second channel in such a way that the flow of effluent opens one and closes the other.</p> |
