摘要 Efficient devices and methods for producing ultraviolet light are provided. One such device 100 includes a diode-pumped 946 nm solid-state laser 105, a first nonlinear crystal 125 for generating blue light at approximately 473 nm, and a second nonlinear crystal 145 for doubling the frequency of the blue light to produce a fourth harmonic beam of ultraviolet light at approximately 236.5 nm. The second nonlinear crystal 145is a cooled CLBO crystal angle-tuned for non-critical phase-matching to provide high conversion efficiency. Some embodiments include a second laser 910 that emits a fundamental beam having a wavelength over one micron, and another CLBO crystal 930 for sum-frequency mixing the fundamental beam and the fourth harmonic beam to produce an ultraviolet beam at a wavelength less than 200 nm.
