PURPOSE: A washing machine and a control method thereof are provided to selectively display clothing boiling information such as heating temperature of washing water and remaining time. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine includes a heating tub(34) for receiving clothing and washing water, a heater(38) for heating the water in the heating tub, a temperature sensor(44) for measuring a temperature of the water heated by the heater, a display part for displaying predetermined clothing boiling information, and a control part for selectively displaying the clothing boiling information to the display part.
