<p>The invention involves identification of peptides that inhibit aggregation of polyglutamine-containing proteins. Methods for treating conditions caused by such aggregates by administration of such peptides to reduce the amount of aggregates and/or their neurodegenerative effects are provided, as are pharmaceutical compositions containing such peptides. Also provided are methods for selecting additional compounds which can antagonize the aggregation of polyglutamine-containing proteins and the neurodegenerative effects of such aggregates.</p> |
