The invention relates to a method for monitoring a gas flow in a line (1) between two positions on said line, for example between a stop valve (4) and a consumer (2). According to the inventive method, the rate of the gas flow is determined at the first position on the line and at the second position on the line and the two rates of flow are then compared.
