PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a wedge member wherein one-piece forming is feasible to the almost final shape by forging except for finish machining so as to greatly contribute to an improvement in stock utilization and bulk production. SOLUTION: This invention is a method for manufacturing a wedge member by means of a bolt former in multiple stages. The method consists of a cutting step I' for obtaining a round bar blank 11 by shearing a wire rod to a constant length, an extrusion step I for forming the shank 2 of the wedge member 1 to be manufactured by the forward extrusion of the round bar blank 11, a first swaging step II for forming the rectangular head 12 by swaging (drawing) the part 11a not yet processed in the extrusion step I, a trimming step III for eliminating a thin disc 13 remaining on the end of the head 12 by trimming, and a second swaging step IV for forming the wedge part 3 of the wedge member 1 by further swaging the rectangular head 12 from which the disc 13 has been eliminated.
