PURPOSE: A jog dialing apparatus in a mobile communication terminal and a control method therefor are provided to decrease the volume of the mobile communication terminal by reducing the number of key in the mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(116) displays numbers, characters, or menus, and a cursor for selection. A jog dial(117) generates a left/right moving signal for requesting the movement of the numbers, characters, or various menus displayed on the display unit(116) at left and right sides, and generates a selecting signal for selecting the displayed data. A memory(114) stores data of the menus and data about a number board and a character board. A control unit(111) controls the display unit(116) according to the input of the jog dial(117) for performing the display, and controls an operation according to a corresponding menu when the selection is performed.
